About Lollipop Day

Lollipop Day is the Oesophageal Cancer Fund's flagship National Fundraising and Awareness event. Lollipop Day involves volunteers across the country getting involved to raise funds and promote the message of early detection and prevention of Oesophageal Cancer. Lollipop Day campaign will take place on Friday the 27th, and Saturday 28th of February 2026.

To date Lollipop Day has raised over €2.5 million for Oesophageal Cancer research. Lollipop Day funding has meant that we can now catch this complex cancer at earlier, pre-cancerous stages, resulting in better patient outcomes and saving lives.

About the Oesophageal Cancer Fund

From humble beginnings, The Oesophageal Cancer Fund was founded in 2001 by Noelle Ryan and a group of friends, having witnessed their childhood friend, Lucilla Hyland, lose her hard fought battle to Oesophageal Cancer at a young age. The Oesophageal Cancer Fund is now the national charity for Oesophageal Cancer in Ireland.

The Vision of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund is that everyone affected by Oesophageal Cancer receives the earliest and best support and treatment possible. We are committed to creating better awareness of Oesophageal Cancer, and its risks and symptoms, to deliver early diagnosis and successful treatments.

The Mission of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund is to foster a culture of partnership by working directly with people affected by Oesophageal Cancer, their families, clinicians, researchers, volunteers and other support and advocacy organisations to improve the experiences of and outcomes for people with Oesophageal Cancer. Together we aim to do so by providing dedicated support, raising awareness, engaging in research and advancing knowledge to support the early detection and prevention of Oesophageal Cancer.
